Land Trust Gardens in the Watershed Tour

Sunday, July 15th

The 27th Annual Georges River Land Trust Gardens in the Watershed tour will take place Sunday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., rain or shine, in the lower reaches of the Georges River watershed. This year’s tour includes six gardens in Rockland, Owls Head and South Thomaston. Advance tickets, $25 apiece, are now available for purchase at local outlets and online at georgesriver.org.
 
Gardening experts will speak at two of the gardens, offering helpful information for all gardeners. Anne Perkins will speak about growing vegetables at Headacre Farm in Owls Head at 11 a.m. And Esperanza Stancioff of University of Maine’s Co-Operative Extension will speak at 2 p.m. on “Climate Change Effects on Zones and Planting in Maine.”
 
Attendees are invited to pre-order lunch catered by Home Kitchen Café. Advance tour tickets and brochures are available at the following locations: Deer Foot Farm in Appleton; Brambles in Belfast; Planet Toys in Camden; The Grasshopper Shop and Eastern Tire and Auto Service in Rockland; Plants Unlimited, Green Thumb, and Guini Ridge Farm in Rockport; Hedgerow in Tenants Harbor; the Common Market in Union; and at the Land Trust office in Rockland.
 
Tour tickets and lunch pre-orders can also be purchased online at georgesriver.org/garden. Tickets will also be available for $30 (cash or check only) on tour day at any of the garden sites. For more information, call 594-5166.
